How to Beat the Pterodactyls

For a while it's just cacti — then the birds arrive. Pterodactyls appear once your score climbs (typically a few hundred points in), and they're the moment many runs fall apart. Here's how to handle them.

The three heights

  • Low: duck — hold ↓ and slide underneath. Never try to jump these.
  • Middle: the danger zone. Usually a well-timed jump clears it, but ducking can work if it's slightly low.
  • High: often you can simply keep running — they pass overhead.

The golden rule

Read the bird's height early and commit. Hesitation — starting a jump then trying to duck — is what kills runs. Decide, act, move on.

Cacti and birds can appear close together at speed. Prioritise the nearer obstacle, then immediately re-read the next.
