A game this small should never stutter — so when the dino lags, something on the device is stealing its frames. Work down this list.
Quick fixes, most effective first
- Close heavy tabs and apps. A video call, a streaming tab, or dozens of open tabs starve the game of CPU time.
- Turn off battery saver. Low-power modes throttle the processor and cap frame rates — the most common cause of a suddenly choppy game on laptops and phones.
- Check hardware acceleration. In Chrome: Settings → System → "Use graphics acceleration when available" should be ON, then relaunch.
- Unplug from a struggling extension. Script-heavy extensions can run on every page; try a private window where they're off.
- Restart the browser. Long-running sessions leak memory; a fresh start clears it.
Why lag ends runs
At high speed the gap between "jump now" and "too late" is a few frames. When frames drop, obstacles appear to teleport. The classic runner moves per frame drawn, so stutter literally changes the game's pace; the games on this site use a fixed-step clock instead, which keeps the speed correct even when frames dip — stutter looks ugly but your timing stays honest.
